Job summary

Westminster Public Schools is seeking an ESP - Instructional Assistant to support students at the Instructional Services Center. The role involves assisting the Special Education Teacher with small-group lessons, adapting assignments, and supervising during school activities.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent plus 48 college credits, or an Associate Degree, and completion of ParaPro PRAXIS/WorkKeys. Training via the district’s Para Academy is expected within the year.

Qualifications

Highly qualified requirement: High school diploma or equivalent plus an Associate Degree, 48 college semester credits, or ParaPro PRAXIS/Workeys.
Must complete the Para Academy training within the school year.
Has experience or desire working with students who have emotional disabilities.

Responsibilities

To build trusting, positive working relationships with students.
To modify students' assignments and tests in the general education classroom as well as implement their accommodations.
To assist Special Education Teacher by implementing small-group reading, writing, and/or math lessons.
To assist Special Education Teacher with monitoring and supervising students during school events (e.g., field trips, assemblies, lunch, etc.).
To assist Special Education Teacher or other certified staff by grading worksheets, documenting student needs, and/or monitoring student progress.
To follow the instructions made by the assigned SPED teacher(s).
Assist with medical needs of students as trained and directed by the School Nurse.
To perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
