Job summary

Alvin ISD is seeking a SPED Fundamental Skills Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities under the supervision of a certified teacher. You will assist with physical and instructional activities, help implement classroom programs, and support self-help and behavior management routines.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, plus additional coursework or certification (Associates degree or 48 college hours, Paraprofessional Assessment of Competencies, and Texas Education

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; 2 years of college credit (48 hours) or an Associate's degree or passing score on the Paraprofessional Assessment of Competencies.
• Texas Education Aide Certificate obtainable through Alvin ISD when hired.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities; follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

Primary Purpose:

Help special education teacher provide for physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in the special education and general education settings. Assist in implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs. Work under general supervision of principal and immediate direction of certified teacher.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED
Two years of study at an institution of higher education totaling 48 hours, or
Associates Degree, or
Passing score on the \"Paraprofessional Assessment of Competencies\" exam, to be administered by Alvin ISD
(Note: the above criteria must be met before your application can be considered for this position and if you are selected for an interview, transcripts showing your degree or college hours should be presented at that time)
Valid Texas Education Aide Certificate (obtainable through Alvin ISD when hired)
