Special Education Substitute Bus Attendant

BUS ATTENDANT ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Assists students with disabilities getting on and off the bus. This may include, but is not limited to, assisting students to and from the door of their home, school or other sites.
  • Under the general oversight of the bus driver, assists the driver in maintaining order on the bus by assuring that students remain in their seats when the bus is moving.
  • Maintains constant surveillance of students and alerts the bus driver immediately in the event of an emergency or potential emergency (medical, behavioral, etc.)
  • Assists students traveling in wheelchairs on and off lift and to and from home, school, and other sites to which student is transported.
  • Performs simple errands and tasks for student(s) such as assisting them to get personal belongings on and off the bus.
  • Multiple positions available.
BUS ATTENDANT REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must meet all required health, physical and background check requirements.
  • Must have a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • Previous experience working with special needs students or as an educational assistant in a public-school setting preferred.
