Job summary

Qualifications

• College hours for Title I campus 48 minimum or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test.
• College hours 15 or high school diploma or GED with 464 ParaPro score for Non-Title I campus.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of general office equipment.
• Paraprofessional Educational Aide certificate II required once employed.
• CPI certification once employed.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to federal, state and local policies and procedures related to special education paraprofessionals and child care facilities.
• Participate in planned in-services and professional growth activities.
• Assist in carrying out the instructional program.
• Assist in maintaining confidential student records and data.
• Assist in preparation, use and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment.
• Assist with teacher-planned activities, exercises and drills.
• Assist when needed in helping students in self-care activities such as feeding and toileting.
• Assist in implementing therapy programs which may require lifting and positioning.
• Attend professional meetings as required.
• Assist in implementing behavior intervention strategies.
• Provide instructional support and implement instructional accommodations for students.
