Pride Health is seeking a Specimen Technician I to join the Specimen Processing team in Wallingford, CT. This role supports laboratory operations by processing, preparing, and handling patient specimens in a fast-paced production environment. Schedule: 3rd shift/Eastern-11PM-7:30AM.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Strong data entry and computer skills.
• No prior laboratory experience is required, but preferred.
• Medical background preferred including medical terminology used in clinical labs.
• Previous hospital lab experience is a plus but not required.
• Previous production environment experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing activities including accessioning, presorting, centrifugation, aliquoting, and imaging.
• Receive, sort, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
• Ensure accurate data entry and ability to meet high-volume keystroke requirements.
• Transport processed specimens to designated lab departments.
• Follow established safety, quality, and compliance procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Communicate effectively with lab staff and team members.
• Adapt to changing priorities and workflow demands.
• Work in a biohazard environment while adhering to safety protocols.
• Support departmental productivity and turnaround time goals.

Required Knowledge

• Medical background preferred which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
• Previous hospital laboratory experience is a plus but not required.
• Previous experience in a production environment is preferred.
