The position requires basic computer skills and physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work in protective equipment. Prior medical or production experience is preferred, with opportunities for growth within the laboratory.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in medical or production settings preferred.
• Able to lift up to 30 lbs and work in protective equipment.
• Must pass color vision test.
• Good computer and typing skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for analysis and ensure accurate processing.
• Open and aliquot specimens into secondary containers.
• Verify patient demographics match requisition forms.
• Enter patient data into the computer system for tracking.
• Meet production metrics and quality measures.
• Unpack and route specimens to staging areas.
• Pack and ship specimens to testing facilities when required.
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
• Resolve and document any problem specimens.
• Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste.
• Operate automated instrumentation under supervision if necessary.
