Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Specimen Processor I to accurately process blood and urine specimens collected onsite, prepare them for shipment, and perform light data entry. This contract role supports a high-volume workflow with approximately 100 accessions per day in Wichita, KS.

You will ensure specimen accessioning, sorting, and data entry adhere to SOPs to enable timely and reliable laboratory testing in a fully onsite lab.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of work experience in a medical, laboratory, or production environment is preferred.
• Proficient computer and typing skills with accurate data entry.
• Ability to handle human biological specimens (blood, urine, tissue).
• Lift up to 30 lbs and wear PPE.
• Able to sit/stand for long periods during processing.
• Strong eye-hand coordination and attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Successful color vision testing may be required for accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for laboratory processing per SOPs.
• Open primary containers and aliquot samples into secondary containers.
• Verify patient demographics against requisitions.
• Enter patient/specimen data accurately into the system.
