Job summary

Columbia Memorial Hospital is seeking an organized, detail‑oriented Laboratory Clerk to process patient specimens and support test ordering for inpatient and outpatient samples. The role includes preparing specimens for testing, arranging on-site analysis or transport to the reference lab, and providing results to patients or providers.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma, data entry and phone skills, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior data entry skills required.
• Excellent phone skills required.
• Strong organizational skills for completion of office and specimen processing duties required.
• Must be able to work independently.
• 1 year minimum Clinical Laboratory experience in a processing area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process patient specimens for testing in the laboratory.
• Order tests for inpatient and outpatient samples; arrange on-site or transport to reference lab.
• Answer phones and report results verbally, by fax, or in hard copy.

Job description

Processes Patient specimens in to the Laboratory for testing. Orders tests on both inpatient and outpatient samples to be performed on site or for transport to the reference Laboratory. Answers the telephone to give patient results verbally, by faxing or delivering hard copy reports.

• Knowledge of hospital/medical field desirable.

Experience:

Salary Range:

$18.95 – $24.35
