Job summary

College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy in North Carolina seeks a Specimen Processor to handle receiving, processing and distribution of lab specimens. You will prepare, package and ship Category A/B specimens to approved reference labs and oversee collection directions per guidelines.

The role includes patient data entry and result distribution to maintain efficient operations. Ideal candidates have a phlebotomy background, knowledge of medical terminology, and computer skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Phlebotomy program or at least 6 months of Phlebotomy experience; Certification preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology; computer experience required.
• Working knowledge of handling blood/body fluids and other laboratory specimens; infection control guidelines followed.
• On-the-job training provided and a background in science or related aptitude is preferred; valid driving eligibility may be required.

Specimen Processor Job Summary

• Performs laboratory specimen receiving, processing and distribution functions. Prepares, packages and ships Category A/B lab specimens to approved Reference labs.
• Oversees some specimen collection directions, according to laboratory guidelines.
• Performs patient data order entry and result distribution, in order to maintain efficient and productive operations of the laboratory.
• Provides customer service support to phlebotomists, technical staff and laboratory clients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy program or have at least 6 months of Phlebotomy experience required. Certification preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred; computer experience required.
• Working knowledge of handling blood/body fluid and other laboratory specimens preferred, in accordance with infection control guidelines. Knowledge of specimen processing, phlebotomy, a background in science or an equivalent aptitude preferred. On the job training will be provided to a qualified candidate.

Fridays will rotate between the hospital lab, FirstHealth Family Medicine – Whispering Pines, and FirstHealth Family Medicine – Southern Pines

Valid Driver’s License with good driving record to meet criteria to drive FirstHealth vehicle.
