GTT is seeking a Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) in Chantilly, VA, on an onsite contract basis. The role centers on specimen processing support, data entry, and compliance with testing regulations.

Night-shift work is common, with weekends and overtime as needed to meet staffing demands. The candidate should have a data-entry background, strong organization skills, and the ability to learn various specimen types and regulatory requirements.

• Data entry background with ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.

• Ability to learn and understand specimen types and compliance regulations related to test ordering.

Responsibilities

• Perform general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department, including A-station, presort, pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory, imaging/microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting
• Perform all functions with confidence, accuracy, and in a timely manner
• Learn and understand specimen types related to test(s) ordered by client
• Learn and understand the compliance regulations related to test ordering, which may change on a daily basis
• Work within a production environment with emphasis on productivity/quality standards and departmental completion times
• Enter data at a minimum of 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour
• Work in a biohazard environment, practicing good safety habits
• Sit or stand for long periods as required
• Communicate effectively with all levels of staff
• Adhere to core values, safety, and compliance policies and procedures
• Keep work area neat and clean
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills that foster a positive environment
• Demonstrate flexibility and ability to adapt to change
• Be available for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required based on staffing needs
