Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a Lab Assistant (Specimen Technician II) to support specimen processing in a Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule. The role emphasizes accurate data entry, adherence to safety, and collaboration with internal and external staff in a clinical laboratory environment.

Qualified internal candidates should have at least 9 months in SPT I, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to handle complex processing tasks.

Qualifications

• Internal candidates must have a minimum of 9 months experience and meet all performance standards in the SPT I role.
• Data entry capability: 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
• Work in a biohazard environment with strong safety practices.
• Able to sit or stand for long periods and manage multiple tasks in a production setting.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency in responsibilities of the SPT I.
• Meets or exceeds productivity and quality standards.
• Solves more complex problems on a routine basis.
• Understands how Specimen Processing impacts laboratory testing.
• Identifies problems with specimen types and missing information.
• Ensures accurate documentation within required time frames.
• Meets production and accuracy standards within 3 months.
• Adheres to Quest Diagnostics policies and procedures.
