Job summary

Michigan Medicine seeks a Laboratory Specimen Processing Technician to ensure accurate receipt, entry, transport, processing and distribution of specimens. You will handle Mi-Chart orders, perform data entry, and maintain exceptional customer service for internal and external customers.

The role supports quality assurance, safety practices, and ongoing competencies, with a full-time night shift and rotating weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Ability to walk 3-5 miles, climb 6 flights of stairs, lift up to 10 lbs., and bend as needed during an eight-hour shift.

Responsibilities

• Process and handle specimens to ensure accurate and timely receipt, entry, transport, processing and distribution.
• Enter laboratory test orders into computer systems and process Mi-Chart orders.
• Provide total customer focus to meet internal and external needs and complete required documentation.
• Maintain quality and safety standards and participate in ongoing training and competencies.
