Job summary

Labcorp in Planview, NY is seeking a Specimen Processing Specialist to join the Specimen Processing and Accessioning team. The role performs clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment onsite with one of our client offices.

Pay range: $17.75 - $26.00 per hour 2nd shift differential. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, STD/LTD, 401(k), PTO/FTO, tuition reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year experience in lab/accessioning/production/warehouse environment.
• 1 year or more experience of medical or patient facing healthcare experience (preferred).
• Comfortable handling biological specimens.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
• Communicate effectively with client office staff.
• Research, troubleshoot and resolve customer and specimen problems.
• Meet department activity and production goals.
• Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner.
• Accurately identify and label specimens.
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities.
• Scrub requisitions to ensure samples are prepared and missing items are updated.
• Do spinning/freezing/splitting and other special services as needed based on client.
