Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Specimen Technician III in Portland, ME, working Monday to Friday, 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at Northern Lights Hospital. The role emphasizes complex specimen processing, including microbiology, cytology, and special handling, with strict adherence to lab protocols.

Ideal candidates will have strong data entry skills, familiarity with test ordering policies, and the ability to operate in a biohazard environment while maintaining production standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required, preferred in clinical lab context.
• Experience in a production environment is preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency in Specimen Processing duties and SOPs.
• Fills in for other functions within Specimen Processing as needed.
• Ensures specimens align with test ordering policies and documentation.
• Identifies issues with specimen types and coordinates resolutions.
• Maintains compliance with safety, QA, and regulatory policies.
