Overview

Specimen Processing Group Lead - Lewisville, TX - Thursday - Monday 06:00-2:30pm

This position assists the department supervisors by performing activities such as schedule coordination, general supervision of all Specimen Technicians, providing input for performance reviews and disciplinary actions. The Group Leader typically oversees 8-12 employees, participates in process and compliance audits, and may be responsible for duties listed below. Priority consideration is given to internal candidates for this position.

Pay Range: $22.57+ per hour

Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market, and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all job duties within the Specimen Processing department.
  • Utilize troubleshooting skills to resolve issues effectively, collaborating with technical departments.
  • Assist all Specimen Technicians in test selection and problem resolution.
  • Respond to employee and laboratory personnel questions regarding processing.
  • Provide feedback to supervisors regarding issues.
  • Complete shift paperwork, prepare for production, and ensure proper cleanup.
  • Monitor and order supplies as needed.
  • Maintain and repair department equipment, notifying maintenance when necessary.
  • Assist in training, cross-training, and auditing functions as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist supervisors with prioritizing work, monitoring production, coaching staff, workforce planning, suggesting workflow improvements, managing overtime, and ensuring policy adherence.
Qualifications

Required: Minimum one year in SPT III or related role (internal candidates).

Preferred: 3 years laboratory experience, including Specimen Processing; medical background preferred.

Physical & Mental: Ability to multitask, work in biohazard environments, sit/stand long periods, handle stress.

Skills: PC proficiency, confidentiality, leadership, interpersonal skills, flexibility, communication, adherence to safety and compliance, decision-making under pressure.

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Certifications as required.
