Job summary

Cabell Huntington Hospital, Inc. is seeking a full-time Specimen Collection Tech to join our IP Specimen Collection Department. The role involves collecting venous, arterial and capillary blood specimens for laboratory analysis and supporting non-blood specimen collection within scope.

The candidate should have a high school diploma, phlebotomy certification or six months experience, and preferred national certification with BLS and medical terminology exam completion. EOE.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy Certification from an approved school OR 6 months experience required.
• National Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
• AHA BLS required.
• Successful completion of the Medical Terminology exam required.

Responsibilities

• Collect venous, arterial and capillary blood specimens for analysis by the laboratory technical staff.
• Support obtaining non-blood specimens within scope (e.g., routine sterile and clean catch cup urinalysis, nasal swabs for viral culture, covid, flu, throat swabs for strep).

Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a full-timeSpecimen Collection Techto work with in our IP Specimen Collection Department.

The primary purpose of the Inpatient Specimen Collector is to collect venous, arterial and capillary blood specimens for analysis by the laboratory technical staff. To support and assist in obtaining non-blood specimens within scope, ex. Routine sterile and clean catch cup urinalysis, nasal swabs for viral culture, covid, flu, throat swabs for strep or throat culture etc.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Junior College/Technical School preferred.
• Phlebotomy Certification from an approved school OR 6 months experience required.
  • The kind of position-related experience includesvenipuncture and specimen collections.
• National Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
• AHA BLS required.
• Successful completion of the Medical Terminology exam required.
