Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor in Renton, WA to prepare and process clinical specimens with attention to accuracy and safety. The role involves handling biological materials, data entry, and maintaining strict documentation, working Monday through Friday with a 5:00 pm–1:30 am shift and potential overtime.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and strong computer/typing skills. Prior specimen processing or medical office data entry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet production metrics and quality goals for timely results.
• Unpack and route specimens to staging areas.
• Pack and ship specimens to testing facilities when required.
• Prepare and store excess specimen samples.
• Resolve and document any problem specimens.
• Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste.
• Comply with environmental health and safety policies.
• Operate automated instrumentation under supervision if necessary.

PAML a Labcorp company is seeking a Specimen Processor to join our team in the Renton, WA

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday 5:00 pm to 1:30 am overtime and rotating weekends may be required

Job Responsibilities

• Introduce and prepare biological specimens to the laboratory to ensure accurate processing
• Open specimens and pour off into secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing
• Verify patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted
• Data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes
• Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities when required
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
• Resolve and document any problem specimens
• Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste
• Comply with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures
• Operate automated instrumentation under supervision if necessary

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• 6 Months or more medical office or hospital data entry
• 6 months or more specimen processing

Additional Job Standards

• Proficient computer and typing skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Comfortable handling human biological specimens including blood, urine and tissue samples
• Ability to lift up to 30lbs, work in protective equipment and sit/stand for long periods of time
• Strong eye hand coordination in order to accurately identify specimens by touch and sight
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed
• Exceptional customer service
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment
• Comfortable working under minimal supervision

Pay Range

$21.57 to 27.20 per hour

Plus 2nd shift differentials

Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
