A leading-edge medical laboratory testing company is seeking a Specimen Accessioner in Los Angeles, CA. Responsibilities include preparing laboratory specimens for analysis, unpacking and routing specimens, and maintaining logs and records. Candidates should have 1-2 years of medical field experience, a high school diploma, and legal authorization to work in the US. This is a Tuesday to Saturday position with flexible pay and a 3+ month contract offering growth potential.

Responsibilities

• Prepares laboratory specimens prior to laboratory analysis and testing.
• Unpacks specimens from branches or ports and routes to staging areas.
• Prepares excess specimen samples for storage and resolves issues.
• Prepare excess specimens for storage and resolve problematic specimens.
• Answer phones, maintain logs/records, manage time, and train staff.
• Operate a personal computer and use computerized databases.

Job Description

• Prepares laboratory specimens prior to laboratory analysis and testing
• Unpacks specimens from branches or ports and routes specimens by type to various staging areas.
• Prepares all specimens received for testing in designated laboratory departments or locations such as staging of specimens, centrifuge, separate serum, and blood smears
• Prepares excess specimen samples for storage and resolves and document problem specimens
• Answer telephones, maintain logs/records, organizational skills, proficiency with numbers, research information, time management, train employees, use computerized databases, written and verbal communications
• Operating a personal computer

Qualifications

• 1-2 yrs of Medical Field Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Legal Authorization to Work in the US

Additional Information

• Shift: Tuesday-Saturday, 7AM-3:30PM
• Pay: DOE
• 3+ Month Contract
