Job summary

A leading-edge medical laboratory testing company in Elmhurst, IL is looking for a Specimen Accessioner. The role involves preparing specimens for analysis, managing specimen logistics, and maintaining accurate records. Candidates should have 1-2 years of medical field experience and a high school diploma. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills. The contract duration is approximately 4 months, with shifts from Monday to Friday, 5 PM to 1:30 AM.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens prior to analysis and testing.
• Unpack specimens and route them to staging areas.
• Resolve and document problem specimens.
• Maintaining logs and records.
• Answers telephones, maintains logs/records, uses computerized databases, and communicates clearly.

We are a leading-edge medical laboratory testing company currently seeking a Specimen Accessioner to join our team in Elmhurst, IL.

Job Description

• Prepares laboratory specimens prior to laboratory analysis and testing
• Unpacks specimens from branches or ports and routes specimens by type to various staging areas.
• Prepares all specimens received for testing in designated laboratory departments or locations such as staging of specimens, centrifuge, separate serum, and blood smears
• Prepares excess specimen samples for storage and resolves and document problem specimens
• Answer telephones, maintain logs/records, organizational skills, proficiency with numbers, research information, time management, train employees, use computerized databases, written and verbal communications
• Operating a personal computer

Qualifications

• 1-2 yrs of Medical Field Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Legal Authorization to Work in the US

Additional Information

• Shift: Monday-Friday, 5PM-1:30AM
• Pay: DOE
• 4 Month Contract +/-
