Job description

Sales and Specification Manager, North America

Greenlam America | Doral, FL | Full time Base: $80,000+ | Travel: 40 to 60% across the US and Canada | Reports to: V President, North America

The short version

If you have spent years walking into design firms, getting your product written into a spec, and then chasing that project all the way to a purchase order, this is that job with a lot less friction around it.

Greenlam is the 3rd largest manufacturer of laminates in the world, we operate in over 100 countries, and we have been at it for two decades. North America is the growth market, and right now there is no one owning the A&D relationship here. You would be the first. That means you are not inheriting someone else's account list or defending someone else's numbers. You build the territory the way you know it should be built.

What you own

Getting specified. You identify the projects worth chasing, get in front of the people who write the specs, and make sure Greenlam is named in the document. Then you track it through the lifecycle so it does not get value engineered out at the eleventh hour.

The A&D relationships. Gensler, HOK, Perkins&Will, Stantec, AECOM, HDR, NBBJ, IA Interior Architects, plus the regional firms that quietly drive a lot of volume. Presentations, Lunch and Learns, continuing education sessions for architects, material library placements, real account plans. You know how this works.

Turning samples into specs. Marketing runs the sample requests. You work the high value ones and convert them.

Pipeline you actually manage. Sample requests, design activity, specs, bids, awards, revenue, all tracked in CRM. You should be someone who keeps a clean pipeline because you want to, not because someone asks for a report.

The distributor side. You work alongside distributors, fabricators, and the sales team to convert what you specified. Share project intel, support the follow up, help on quotes, show up when the deal needs a technical answer.

Technical credibility. Product recommendations, application guidance, sustainability conversations, codes and standards, installation best practices. Designers need to trust that you know the material.

Market read. Design trends, competitor moves, where the next opportunity is. You report it up and it gets acted on.

Who fits

Someone with roughly 5+ years in specification sales or architectural sales who has carried a real number and hit it. A bachelor's in Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Management, Business, or Marketing is preferred, but if you have the track record, the degree matters less.

You will do well here if you:

  • Already have relationships inside design firms and can name the people, not just the logos
  • Are entrepreneurial by nature and do not need a manager to structure your week
  • Can hold your own on a technical conversation with an architect and a commercial conversation with a distributor principal on the same afternoon
  • Like being on the road and understand that specs happen in person
  • Are comfortable owning a territory that is not fully built yet

We are especially interested in people coming from Wilsonart, Formica, Fundermax, Arpa, EGGER, Interface, Shaw Contract, Mohawk, or Tarkett, or from the specification side at a building products distributor. Decorative surfaces, laminates, architectural products, commercial interiors, facade systems, and flooring all translate well.

Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus given the Miami base and the broader regional footprint.

Why people take this seat

You get autonomy that is genuinely rare at this level. Small team, about six people, and a direct line to the President of North America. No layers, no committee, no waiting three weeks for a decision.

The company invests in travel because they understand the business is won face to face. There is also a global support team that handles the backend and Salesforce administration, so your time goes into selling instead of data entry.

The laminate industry is small. Doing this well here makes you known across the whole category.
