A Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of OR nursing experience are required, along with certifications such as CNOR or CGRN. The position demands strong decision-making, interpersonal skills, and clinical competency in OR operations.
Registered Nurses have a professional obligation to participate in committee activities, surveys, and improvement initiatives. In addition, Registered Nurses must uphold the standards of the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
Under general supervision and collaboration with the OR Manager, plans, organizes, directs, and controls all activities involved in the effective, efficient, and economical utilization of material resources and personnel of the delegated specialty service, ensuring patient service is continuous and high quality. Responsible for orientation, training, and development of specialty service personnel. Responsible for streamlining the nursing intraoperative process for assigned service line or lines and for streamlining and maintaining preference cards of responsible service line(s). Relates effectively with perioperative team members for continuity of care; maintains satisfactory relations with other departments and nursing units and participates in all phases of education, maintenance of records, and upgrading policies, procedures, and skills of personnel.
