Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Neurology Specialty Nurse to join our neurology team at our Methodist hospital specialty clinic. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in neurology care, excellent assessment skills, and the ability to provide efficient and compassionate triage services to our patients. As a Neurology RN, you will play a crucial role in assessing patient needs, prioritizing care, and facilitating timely access to appropriate medical services.

  • Assess incoming patient calls and walk-ins based on the severity of symptoms and medical history.
  • Provide telephone triage, giving appropriate medical advice, and directing patients to the appropriate level of care.
  • Coordinate urgent and emergency care for patients experiencing acute neurological symptoms.
  • Communicate effectively with neurologists and other healthcare providers to relay patient information and facilitate timely interventions.
  • Educate patients and their families about neurological conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies.
  • Document all patient interactions, assessments, and care plans accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Monitor and follow up on patients' progress and response to treatment.

Qualifications
  • Current License to Practice, RN (State of Iowa).
  • High school diploma.
  • BLS and Mandatory Reporter.
  • Prior neruology experience preferred.
