Job summary

Mercy is seeking a licensed practical nurse (LPN) to provide patient-centered care using the nursing process under supervision. The role includes accountability for patient care and coordinating with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.

The position welcomes both new and experienced LPNs who hold an active LPN license and BLS certification, with unit-specific certifications potentially required.

Qualifications

• Can be new or experienced LPN.
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or complete within 30 days.
• Additional unit-specific certifications may be required (ACLS, PALS, PEARS, STABLE, etc.).

Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments.

Position Details:

• Minimum Qualifications: Education: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; Consideration will be given for comparable education experience and successful licensure.
• Minimum Qualifications: Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining a current LPN license within the hiring state in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements.
• Minimum Qualifications: Experience: Can be new or experienced LPN.
• Minimum Qualifications: Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
• Note: one or more of the certifications below may be required based on the position/unit hired to, or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe.

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Transforming the Health of Our Communities

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
