To assure that the Employee is technically competent, possesses required education and experience as well as other behavioral skills and performs their responsibilities accordingly. To demonstrate that the employee’s performance is evaluated and appropriate training- in service is provided. To assure that the employee is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives and policies of the Department and the Hospital Center.


Responsibilities

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Dutiesmayinclude based on candidates experience: Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and knowledge of Blood Bank
  • Type and Screen, Crossmatching - Gel and tube technology.
  • Assist in procedures, quality control, enter results into LIS, follow Lab policy and procedures.Read manual differentials, Knowledge of automated equipment.Knowledge chemistry and hematology and instrumentation.
  • Must perform maintenance and troubleshooting procedures as required.
  • Performs Quality control and maintenance procedures as required.
  • Must be proficient in manual differentials and body fluid cell counts, and urine microscopy.
  • Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation
  • Performs all lab tests and procedures as they pertain to the specific activities of the blood bank: ABO/Rh typing, Antibody screening, Cross matches, auto/directed units, DAT testing
  • Performs Quality control and maintenance procedures as required by the department. Performs manual differentials, normal and abnormal, cell counts, coagulation procedures, Urinalysis
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Manager

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • NYS Licensed Medical Technologist and registration certificate required,BS degree required in Science. ASCP preferred ? Experience preferred.
  • Proficient in manual differentials andbody fluid cell count.
  • Computer literate, Excellent communication skills

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $52.0868 - $63.8653 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
