Job summary

The City of Newport is seeking Specialty Instructors for Newport Recreation Center to bring exciting new programs to residents. As a part-time instructor, you will lead engaging classes, stay active, and contribute to community well‑being by helping members stay active and build social connections.

Candidates should have fitness or life enrichment certifications, strong customer service and communication skills, and the ability to plan and market programs for diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Training and certification in fitness or life enrichment activities.

• Strong customer service skills, interpersonal skills, and strong oral communication with a variety of audiences.
• Strong reasoning, analysis, and problem‑solving skills with excellent judgment and professionalism.

Description

Calling all creatives, fitness instructors, wellness experts, and anyone with a desire to bring their special gifts and skills to the Newport Recreation Center members! The City of Newport is looking for enthusiastic, responsible, and service‑mindful individuals to join our team of Specialty Instructors to bring exciting new programs to the residents of Newport. As a Specialty Instructor, you’ll help our members stay active, build friendships, and maintain the physical and mental well‑being that comes from moving together.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, welcoming classes tailored to diverse audiences.
• Maintain certifications on an annual basis or as required.
• Help keep your classroom clean and organized after each session.
• Provide excellent internal and external customer service. Create a positive experience for participants and staff through professional and courteous behavior.
