Job description

The SpecialtyFolder Gluer Operatoris responsible for all activities associated with running the specialty folder gluer machineincluding setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations.

Peachtree Packaging & Display offers medical, dental, vision, life, short-term disability, long-term disability, accident, and critical illness insurance plans. T hese benefits are offered after 90 days of continuous employment.

Pay Range: $25+/hr. (commensurate with experience) + daily bonus opportunities.

1st & 2nd shift available: 1st shift Monday-Friday 7 AM to 3:30 PM & 2nd shift Monday-Thursday 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • General knowledge and understanding of cylinder press process and equipment.
  • Accurate and efficient set-up of the machine in accordance with proper setup techniques.
  • Properly operate machines to run efficiently, produce quality products and maximize machine utilization.
  • Assist in training of other machine positions.
  • Check the quality of boxes during the run, including - mis-slotted boxes, loose liner, misprints, and any other defects.
  • Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data.
  • Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs. Be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
  • Adheres to production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, and service goals. Reports any unusual scheduling issues to Supervisor.
  • Keeps work area neat and clean.
  • Follow established department policies, procedures, work instructions, and safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Follow all PPE policies, including gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection as required.
  • Performs other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma/GED required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum (3) years in machine operation with Specialty Folder Gluers (including knowledge of corrugated displays, 4-corner trays, and auto-lock bottom boxes).
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry is required.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Understanding of equipment function and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
  • Product layouts, product specifications, and production specifications.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions.
  • Ability to use specific computer software to enter and utilize information in our computer business systems.
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to perform basic mathematics including additions, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Must have demonstrated mechanical aptitude through prior work experience.
  • Demonstrates ability to use rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other inspection equipment.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player in a team-oriented environment.
  • Assist other areas as needed to maintain a team approach.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet set targets and deadlines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Standing, walking, talking, hearing, and vision are required over 95% of the time.Bending, twisting, and reaching is required less than 95% of the time. Feeling is required 75% of the time while pushing and pulling is required about 20% of the time.Low levels of lifting (10 pounds or less) are required about 10% of the time, while medium levels of lifting and carrying (20 to 50 pounds) are required less than 5% of the time.
