Specialty Floater - Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant

Join us to apply for the Specialty Floater - Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant role at PetVet Care Centers.

Position Overview: Carolina Veterinary Specialists is seeking a qualified Veterinary Technician (or assistant) to join our Specialty departments at the Matthews clinic. The position involves a 5-day work week from 8 am to 4 pm, supporting all Specialty services as needed.

What is a Specialty Floater? A team player willing to work across departments including Surgery, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Medical Oncology, and Radiation Oncology. The floater collaborates closely with teams, assisting both Doctors and support staff, and receives training in all service areas.

Responsibilities include:

  • Taking accurate patient histories
  • Client communication per hospital policy
  • Managing appointment schedules and emergency cases
  • Performing safe drug calculations
  • Restraint and examination of patients
  • Assisting in hospitalization, diagnostics, and treatments
  • Preparing patients for sterile procedures
  • Monitoring anesthesia and patient parameters
  • Providing compassionate patient and client care
  • Assisting with imaging, endoscopic procedures, and infusions
  • Efficient time management to maintain service flow

Requirements:

  • At least 1+ year of experience as a technician or assistant
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Capability to lift 50 pounds

Preferred additional skills:

  • Knowledge of veterinary medications, phlebotomy, anesthesia, and pharmacology
  • Understanding of normal patient parameters and medical terminology
  • Credentialed technician preferred
