Job summary

NHS Lothian is seeking a Specialty Doctor to join the Midlothian Hospital at Home Service based at Midlothian Community Hospital. The post is permanent, full-time (40 hours per week) with no on-call outside holidays and offers flexible and compressed working patterns.

Applications welcome from Specialty Doctors, General Practitioners, and other suitably experienced clinicians with GMC registration and appropriate training.

Qualifications

• GMC registration and a Licence to Practise are required.
• Four years of postgraduate training, with at least two in a specialty training programme or LAT, or equivalent UK/overseas experience.
• Permanent, full-time post based in Midlothian Community Hospital.
• Applications invited from Specialty Doctors, General Practitioners and other suitably experienced clinicians.

Responsibilities

• Join the Midlothian Hospital at Home Service delivering acute care closer to home.
• Flexible and compressed working with SPA time and no on-call outside public holidays.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Entry Criteria For a Specialty Doctor

A doctor appointed to this grade shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC);

And

• shall have completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a less than full-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme or specialty registrar locum appointment for training (LAT); Or
• shall have equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas.

Applications are invited from Specialty Doctors, General Practitioners, and other suitably experienced clinicians to join the Midlothian Hospital at Home Service, based at Midlothian Community Hospital. Applicants with experience in acute medicine, frailty, general practice, community-based acute care or related specialties are welcomed. The service provides acute admission avoidance and supports early discharge through the delivery of high-quality acute care closer to home.

• There is no on call or out of hours working associated with this post other than working with colleagues to ensure public holidays are covered.
• The post offers flexible and compressed working, dedicated Supporting Professional Activity (SPA) time and regular multidisciplinary team working within an innovative Hospital at Home service.
