Role Overview

The primary role of the Dental Assistant is to support the success of the clinicians through effective delivery of the Perfect Patient Experience (PPE), thus creating a Patient for Life (PFL). Dental assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties, including preparing patients for examinations and assisting in treatments related to teeth, mouth, and gums. They work effectively with co-workers, patients, and front office staff, sharing ideas constructively and positively.

Specialty Dental Assistants

If assigned within specialty areas such as Endodontics, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontics, or Pediatric, they will primarily support clinicians within that specialty and may require additional training.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform functions according to state’s Dental Auxiliaries Table of Permitted Duties.
  2. Participate in PPE, focusing on patient-centered care and addressing individual needs.
  3. Escort patients, introduce them to team members, and facilitate smooth communication.
  4. Maintain a clean and sterile environment, sterilize instruments, and clean operatory areas per infection control guidelines.
  5. Prepare patients and assist the dentist during treatments, including radiographs and intra-oral pictures.
  6. Prepare tray setups, maintain supplies, and support patient care with record-keeping and patient education.
  7. Ensure equipment maintenance and participate in team meetings and company initiatives.
  8. Adhere to professional appearance standards and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED, with required state training and certification.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance, or reliable transportation for travel among multiple offices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school, or equivalent experience.
Skills and Abilities
  • Effective communication, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interpret policies, operate basic computer software, and handle confidential records.
  • Customer service orientation, self-motivation, organization, and multitasking abilities.

Compensation

$16.25-$22.50 per hour
