Specialty Coder – Remote Job in Tyler

Summary:

CHRISTUS Health System offers the Specialty Coder position as a remote opportunity. Candidates must reside in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, or Georgia to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain high-quality ICD-10-CM and CPT coding for all professional services, including inpatient and outpatient Evaluation & Management (E/M), and operative/surgical procedures across multiple specialties.
  2. Verify accuracy of charges and code assignments via assigned work queues.
  3. Assign appropriate modifiers to CPT codes accurately.
  4. Communicate regularly with providers regarding coding concerns, documentation issues, and policy updates.
  5. Manage assigned coding denial work queues.

Requirements:

  1. Completion of an AAPC or AHIMA approved Coding Certificate Program; High school diploma or GED.
  2. At least 2 years of multi-specialty physician operative and procedural services coding in an acute care hospital and/or outpatient setting. Experience in Cardiology, CV Surgery, Neurosurgery, or Urology is a plus.
  3. Minimum 1 year of experience in professional billing, claim denials, appeals, or revenue cycle work.
  4. Expertise in CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and medical terminology.
  5. Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial payers' coding/billing guidelines and regulations, including LCDs and NCDs.
  6. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail.
  8. Proficiency in software applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  9. Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and achieve productivity and quality standards.
  10. Ability to work independently remotely and collaboratively as part of a team.
  11. EPIC and Meditech experience preferred.
  12. Certifications required: CPC (AAPC), CCS (AHIMA), or CCA (AHIMA).
