Job summary

The Providence Specialty Chaplain provides professional spiritual care ministry across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings and leads the Department of Spiritual Health Services. They serve patients, families, and caregivers, and model the Mission and Values in daily practice.

As a healthcare team leader, they implement policies, collaborate with clinicians, and guide spiritual care strategies to support whole-person wellbeing in a faith-sensitive environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in theology, divinity, spirituality, pastoral ministry or equivalent.
• Completion of four clinical pastoral education units.
• National Chaplain Certification within 3 years of hire.
• 5 years of clinical and/or pastoral experience in healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional spiritual care to patients, families, and caregivers in inpatient, outpatient and community settings.
• Lead the Department of Spiritual Health Services and implement Mission and Values across the facility.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to address spiritual and emotional needs and support whole-person wellbeing.

Education

Master's Degree in Theology / Divinity / Spirituality / Pastoral Ministry or equivalent

Four Clinical Pastoral Education units

National Chaplain Certification within 3 years of hire

Job description

The Specialty Chaplain provides professional and competent spiritual care ministry, and is responsible for serving the spiritual, religious, and emotional needs of care recipients and caregivers in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. As a leader of the healthcare team, they are directly responsible for the implementation of the Mission and Values and leads implementation of policies and procedures of the Department of Spiritual Health Services and the facility in which they serve.

Required Qualifications:

• Master's DegreeinTheology, Divinity, Spirituality, Pastoral Ministry or relevant religious studies similarly accepted in chaplaincy board certifying organizations.
• Coursework/Training:Four clinical pastoral education units.
• Within 3 years of hire: National Chaplain Certification.
• 5 yearsClinical and/or pastoral experience in healthcare setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Leadership in professional organizations such as APC, NACC, etc.
• Participation in chaplain related, publication worthy research.
