Cake Decorator

Primary Responsibilities

• Greet, assist, and ring out all customers politely
• Accurately record customers’ orders/requests for cakes and bakery items
• Process customer purchases quickly and accurately using electronic cash registers, scanners, and scales
• Review the department Communication Board daily for updates, follow guidelines for Sampling Program and announcements, and respond courteously to customer questions
• Ice and decorate cakes and pastries according to specifications
• Record out-of-stock conditions and report to the manager
• Stock display cases and tables throughout the store

Supervision

Cake Decorator reports directly to the Bakery Manager

Qualifications

• Basic Mathematics skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Prior supervisory experience
• Experience with oven, convection oven, mixer, fryer, bread slicer, stove, wrapper, scales, and cleaning materials

Specific Tasks

• Lift, twist, move, and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Maintain signage and pricing in departmental areas
• Care for signs, banners, and debris from daily operations
• Handle cash, debit/credit, EBT/WIC, coupons, and vouchers accurately
• Respond promptly and politely to customers, coworkers, and vendors
• Use store phone and intercom systems properly
• Check case and cooler temperatures four times daily and record each check

Work Environment

Inside work with transitions of heat, cold, humidity, and dust from various store areas.
