General Summary & Scope

The Specialty Beauty Advisor - Clinique (SBA - Clinique) is responsible for maximizing sales in the Clinique brand (including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their needs, assisting in the selection and purchase of merchandise, and maintaining store standards such as cleanliness and replenishment. They represent the image, products, and culture of Ulta Beauty and Clinique to guests, supporting the Experience Manager through performance, people, and process focus. This role requires a passion for beauty, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge communication skills.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The SBA - Clinique demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values by performing duties such as:

  • Meeting or exceeding sales and clientele goals for Clinique, contributing to store objectives.
  • Providing exceptional guest service, including greeting, engaging, personalizing service, and offering samples and recommendations.
  • Performing makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations.
  • Booking appointments and supporting in-store events to enhance guest experience and sales.
  • Building customer relationships through active contact and follow-up.
  • Informing guests of current promotions and events.
  • Staying informed about new products and trends to better serve guests.
  • Maintaining regular attendance.

People

  • Supporting an inclusive environment and sharing loyalty program benefits with guests.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with Clinique brand partners and participating in training and events.
  • Collaborating with team members to grow the business.
  • Participating in ongoing training for professional development and sales performance.

Process

  • Adhering to company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Wearing brand attire as directed.
  • Keeping work areas replenished, signed, and maintained.
  • Ensuring merchandise, testers, and displays meet standards and cleanliness is maintained.
  • Participating in resets, inventory, and shipment processing.
  • Following loss prevention practices and executing operational tasks.

Job Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Cosmetology or demonstrator license required by law where applicable.

Experience

  • Cosmetics artistry experience preferred.

Skills

  • Strong sales, product, and service competency.
  • Ability to build customer relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Proactive guest concern handling and multitasking in a fast environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Special Position Requirements

  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Participation in brand training.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent mobility, standing, bending, and reaching.
  • Lifting/moving up to 10 lbs.
  • Coordination and manipulation during shift.
