Specialty Architect I Guidewire

Zurich North America is currently hiring a Specialty Architect I Guidewire in Schaumburg, IL. This position is responsible for developing Guidewire software applications solutions for all or part of an assigned project(s) working with vendors and the enterprise architecture community. Specifically, this position identifies functional/non-functional requirements, configures, tests, debugs, and documents application systems to achieve the objectives of the client group relative to identified system needs. This position works on complex projects and leverages knowledge of applications development methodologies, hardware characteristics, and other technologies providing expert advice to produce comprehensive solutions, within the agreed quality, service commitment levels, schedules, and budgets.

Your job responsibilities are:

  1. Leads the evaluation and delivery of new Guidewire application technologies, functionality, and approaches to determine the usefulness and applicability to the organization in conjunction with existing IT organization strategies.
  2. Provides Guidewire design recommendations, based on long-term IT organization strategy.
  3. Demonstrates knowledge of Guidewire within a domain of expertise (policy, claim, etc.) on relevant systems, technologies, products, processes and procedures and provides solution design services referring the more complex professional queries to the right department or enterprise architect.
  4. Determines specifications, plans, designs, and develops complex and business critical Guidewire software solutions, utilizing appropriate software engineering processes, either individually or in concert with project team.
  5. Meets scheduled Milestones to ensure project/program objectives are met in a timely manner and has an in-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices and techniques for managing the activities related to planning, managing and implementing systems analysis and application development projects and programs.

Required:

  1. Bachelors Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Application Design and Development area

OR

  1. High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Application Design and Development area

OR

  1. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Application Design and Development area

Preferred:

  1. Experience developing solutions in the insurance industry
  2. Experience providing solution architecture oversight with third-parties
  3. 5 years experience in PolicyCenter
  4. Agile Development

The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is 113,100.00-185,100.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
