Job summary

Compunnel, Inc. is seeking a Specialized Wireless Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design, deployment, and support of enterprise wireless technologies.

You will architect wireless solutions, evaluate new technologies, and drive field trials for large-scale networks. The ideal candidate has 7+ years in wireless development, deep knowledge of WiFi 5/6/7 and 4G-LTE, plus strong skills in diagnostics, data analysis, and customer-focused problem solving.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of wireless development and engineering experience.
  • Deep expertise in WiFi 5/6/7 and 4G-LTE; 5G familiarity.
  • Strong knowledge of routing, switching, and network security.
  • Experience designing and supporting enterprise CPE, gateways, routers, and APs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for design, development, and deployment of wireless solutions.
  • Design end-to-end wireless architectures including CPE, access networks, transport, core, and back-end systems.
  • Evaluate new product requirements and develop scalable wireless solutions and architectures.
  • Test, validate, and certify Small Cells, Routers, APs, and Gateways for production deployment.
  • Collaborate with Operations to troubleshoot WiFi and mobile network issues impacting customers.
  • Develop engineering standards, tools, and processes for wireless design, testing, and deployment.
  • Perform lab evaluations and field trials to validate emerging wireless technologies.
  • Drive adoption of WiFi 5/6/7, 4G-LTE, and next-gen wireless technologies.
  • Monitor and optimize large-scale public WiFi infrastructure for reliability and QoE.
  • Review designs, code, and testing plans as applicable.
  • Participate in vendor evaluations, RFIs, RFPs, and tech selection discussions.
  • Investigate production issues, analyze datasets, and determine root causes.

Job description

We are seeking a Specialized Wireless Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design, development, deployment, and support of enterprise wireless technologies. This role is responsible for architecting wireless solutions, evaluating emerging technologies, troubleshooting complex production issues, improving WiFi performance, and supporting large-scale wireless infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in WiFi technologies, wireless networking, and production operations with a strong focus on root cause analysis and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership for the design, development, and deployment of wireless technology solutions.
  • Design end-to-end wireless architectures involving customer premises equipment (CPE), access networks, transport, core infrastructure, and backend systems.
  • Evaluate new product requirements and develop scalable wireless technology solutions and architecture designs.
  • Test, validate, and certify Small Cells, Home/SMB Routers, Wireless Access Points (APs), Wireless Access Gateways (WAGs), and wireless controllers for production deployment.
  • Collaborate with Operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve WiFi and mobile network issues impacting customers and business operations.
  • Develop engineering standards, tools, and processes supporting wireless solution design, testing, certification, and deployment.
  • Perform laboratory evaluations and field trials to validate emerging wireless technologies and product capabilities.
  • Drive the adoption of innovative wireless technologies including WiFi 5, WiFi 6, WiFi 7, 802.11ad/ay, Ultra-Wideband (UWB), Broadband Network Gateway (BNG), and Mesh Networking.
  • Support initiatives focused on network security, virtualization, wireless performance optimization, and new service capabilities.
  • Monitor and optimize large-scale public WiFi infrastructure to improve reliability, performance, and Quality of Experience (QoE).
  • Review engineering designs, code, and testing plans where applicable.
  • Participate in RFPs, RFIs, vendor evaluations, product assessments, and technical contract discussions.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot WiFi performance across large-scale wireless environments.
  • Investigate complex production issues, analyze large datasets, identify root causes, and drive issues through resolution.
  • Support executive-level customer escalations by providing technical analysis and resolution.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in wireless technology development, engineering, or management.
  • Deep expertise in wireless access technologies, including WiFi 5, WiFi 6, WiFi 7, and 4G-LTE.
  • Familiarity with 5G wireless technologies.
  • Strong understanding of wireless networking, routing, switching, and network security.
  • Experience designing and supporting Customer Premises Equipment (CPE), wireless gateways, routers, and access points.
  • Experience testing, validating, and deploying enterprise wireless solutions.
  • Proficiency with network diagnostics, troubleshooting, and inventory tools.
  • Experience using SQL databases, Splunk, Plume, Scope, or similar operational analytics tools.
  • Strong experience monitoring production wireless environments and resolving complex performance issues.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis using large operational datasets.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA).
  • Experience working with major telecommunications providers, cable operators, satellite providers, or leading wireless technology vendors.
  • Experience evaluating emerging wireless technologies and conducting field trials.
  • Experience participating in vendor evaluations, RFPs, RFIs, and technology selection initiatives.
  • Experience supporting executive-level customer escalations and high-impact production incidents.
