Overview

The Florida State University College of Nursing invites applications for full‑time, non‑tenure‑track Specialized Teaching Faculty – Didactic positions. These appointments may be offered on a 9‑month or 12‑month salaried basis, depending on program needs and candidate qualifications.

Responsibilities
  • Provide didactic, lab and/or clinical nursing instruction in community health, pediatrics, or mental health.
  • Promote student success through highly engaged teaching.
  • Participate in planning, organizing, and developing curriculum.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and mentor students.
  • Appropriately document student progress.
  • Participate in and meaningfully contribute to departmental and team meetings.
  • Provide academic service and educational excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

These roles focus on high‑quality didactic instruction in the undergraduate nursing program and support the college’s mission to prepare practice‑ready, compassionate nurse leaders. Faculty are expected to be actively engaged in teaching, student mentorship and academic service in a collaborative, on‑campus environment.

Qualifications
  • An academic doctorate (PhD, DNP) or highest‑level terminal degree in nursing from an accredited institution is required.
  • Active FL Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license; or licensed in another state with eligibility to obtain FL licensure within 30 days of hire.
  • Candidates must have relevant teaching experience in pediatrics, mental health, or community health.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff at all levels within a collaborative environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or equivalent software.
  • Experience supervising and training employees.Experience meeting project deadlines.
