Overview

Under general supervision, this position officiates various sports leagues, including inline hockey and lacrosse.

Responsibilities

• Officiate assigned sporting events, enforce rules, maintain standards of play.
• Maintain a safe and fun environment, promote positive sportsmanship.
• Judge performances, award points, impose penalties, determine results.
• Arrive before scheduled event, start games on time.
• Conduct inspection of equipment, participants, and field conditions.
• Verify game scores with onsite Sports Supervisor.
• Resolve claims of rule infractions, report complaints to Sports Coordinator(s).
• Perform disciplinary actions, e.g., ejections, write incident reports for injuries and player behavior.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age (preferred 18 for adult leagues).
• Three (3) years of officiating higher-level, competitive leagues; experience as player, coach, instructor, or official.
• Sport-specific official and/or coaching certifications preferred.
• Concussion recognition training required within 90 days of hire, renewed annually.
• Knowledge of relevant town, state, federal laws and park specific rules.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays.
• Pass pre-employment background check.

Benefits & Compensation

Hiring range: $27.24 – $29.76 per hour. Full pay range: $27.24 – $34.51 per hour.

Working Conditions

Regular sitting, standing, walking, running, talking; use of sports equipment, scoreboards, whistles, scheduling software, personal automobile, telephones.

Work frequently performed outside in varying temperatures; exposure to wet, humid, hot, cold conditions; noise level moderate to extreme.
