Job summary

City of Maple Valley is seeking a part-time Sports Official II in the Parks & Recreation Department. Under the Recreation Coordinator, you will serve as the on-site coordinator and official for the assigned leagues, following city policies and safety rules.

This role is seasonal and non-exempt with overtime eligibility. Salary ranges from $24.80 to $31.38 per hour DOE, with responsibilities including game scoring, field setup, and customer service for program participants.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• One year of experience as a sports official preferred.
• Must possess current First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain prior to start of season.
• Knowledge of sport rules including league ground rules.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and enforce regulations for the visiting public.
• Ability to enforce rules and manage participants in pressure situations.

SALARY RANGE

$24.80 - $31.38 per hour DOE

Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator, the Sports Official's primary responsibility of being the on-site coordinator and Sports Official for the Parks and Recreation Department Sports program assigned.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
• One (1) year Experience as a Sports Official of adult or competitive youth level sports is strongly preferred ( Please be aware that preference will be given to candidates with relevant experience in these areas)
• Must possess current First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain prior to start of season
• Knowledge of sport rules which includes special ground rules associated with the league
• Ability to maintain accurate records, enforce regulations and policies to the visiting public
• Ability to enforce rules and manage participants in pressure situations

This position is FLSA non-exempt and is eligible for overtime compensation. The salary range for this position is $24.80 - $31.38 per hour/DOE.
