Position Summary
Ensures proper processing and problem solving of specialty prescriptions, assisting with operational and distribution responsibilities related to Specialty Technician functions.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates proficiency in prescription processing: reading/reviewing prescription orders, evaluating for completeness, and ensuring accurate data entry of all drug and ancillary supplies.
- Assists the pharmacist in medication distribution, including picking, filling, labeling, and dispensing, while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
- Operates pharmacy equipment following instructions, safety regulations, and policies.
- Uses critical thinking and analytical skills to solve problems independently.
- Creates and maintains provider profiles in computer systems, including demographics, DEA, and NPI numbers.
- Maintains patient profiles with demographic, allergy, insurance, and payment information according to department standards.
- Understands claim adjudication and prior authorization procedures.
- Works with payors to ensure timely medication access and financial assistance.
- Assists patients in evaluating eligibility for medication assistance programs and enrolls them accordingly.
- Utilizes resources and departments for customer service and patient care, including triaging patient calls.
- Communicates clearly with patients about copays and financial responsibilities.
- Maintains regulatory logs (e.g., USP 800), proper disposal, and safety standards.
- Meets productivity and quality metrics set by management.
- Assists with inventory management, including ordering, stock counts, and returns/recalls.
- Performs drug procurement procedures aligned with departmental policies.
- Maintains punctual attendance in accordance with policies and regulations.
- Ensures compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- High School diploma or equivalent G.E.D required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Licensure/Certification
- Current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida Board of Pharmacy.
Experience
- At least two years of retail, hospital, specialty, or mail-order pharmacy experience.
