This Specialist role is part of the NWAG Large Farm Underwriting team. Qualified candidates can work remotely or in a hybrid environment near an office. Responsibilities include handling both new and renewal business, with a preference for candidates with farm, agribusiness, or commercial underwriting experience.
Compensation grade: F4
Success requires a blend of customer service skills and analytical prowess. You will work on complex and interesting accounts, finding solutions that offer the best coverage and help partner agents differentiate themselves. As a Specialist, you will accept, retain, and price complex commercial policies based on your granted authority. You will provide technical direction and guidance to underwriting staff, review and make decisions on larger or unusual business, and may serve as a team lead.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Typically reports to a Supervisor or Manager; no direct reports.
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Certifications: Completion of INS, AU, or similar; progress toward CIC or CPCU preferred.
Experience: Usually six years in commercial lines underwriting, with middle market experience preferred.
Knowledge & Skills: Strong understanding of commercial insurance policies, laws, systems, and practices. Excellent communication, risk evaluation, and leadership skills. Ability to analyze data, advise agents, and train staff.
Leadership skills and competencies may take precedence depending on the role.
Staffing exceptions require approval from the hiring manager and HR.
Overtime Eligibility: Exempt
Work Environment: Normal office, with occasional travel and extended hours as needed.

This position can be filled in any of the lower 48 states. The salary range is $77,000 - $159,000, with an expected starting range of $85,500 - $128,500, depending on various factors.
