Job Description

As a Specialist Technologist, you will analyze blood, urine, bone marrow, and body fluid specimens to provide data that assists physicians in determining the best treatment options. You will routinely use automated and manual techniques to evaluate samples across various clinical conditions. Your responsibilities include performing moderate and high complexity assays in compliance with accrediting organizations and departmental policies. You may also evaluate results, troubleshoot, and assist in developing new testing methods. This position provides direct supervision to professional and technical staff, and involves training students and residents, as well as maintaining quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and standard operating procedures.

Position Highlights:

  • Location: Winston Salem Medical Center Laboratory
  • Shift Schedule: Full-Time, 2nd shift, Evenings with rotating weekends and holidays

How You’ll Impact Patient Care:

Your responsibilities include ensuring accurate testing, following safety procedures, maintaining quality control, and contributing to the department's smooth operation. You will also participate in training, supervision, and compliance activities, and assist in developing and updating procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited Medical Technologist program
  • Minimum four years relevant laboratory experience
  • Technologist/Scientist/Specialist Certification from ASCP or equivalent
  • Preferred: Specialist certifications and additional NAACLS-approved training
