Westlake Chemical seeks a Technical Services Manager to act as the technical expert for roofing products and installation methods in the Florida market.

You will develop and deliver classroom and field installation training programs, support field teams, and provide product knowledge guidance across North America. The role requires strong communication skills and a focus on training excellence.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of roofing installation processes.
  • Experience with standard building practices and wind codes in the assigned territory.
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret and comprehend installation instructions, architectural blueprints, construction plans, product specifications and building codes.
  • 6-8 years of experience in construction, building materials, building science, or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and execute installation instructions, guides, videos and other tools for field use.
  • Develop training methodology for classroom and field installation training.
  • Train installation crews and customers on proper installation techniques.
  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert for product knowledge, building code and installation inquiries.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Product Management, R&D and Marketing to support warranty and customer issues.

This position will also be responsible for the development and implementation of both classroom and field installation training programs for our products. Product responsibility includes: Concrete roof tile (Newpoint Concrete Roof Tile), Clay roof tile (US Clay Tile), Stone coated steel (Unified Steel), Polymer roof tile (Davinci Roofscapes) and WRBP Roofing Components Division. This position will be located in the Florida Market.**Ideal candidate will be located in FL**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMay include, but are not limited to, the following:Prepare and execute installation instructions, guides, videos and other tools for use in the fieldDevelop product training methodology for classroom and field installation trainingTrain installation crews on proper installation techniqueTrain customers and sales personnel on proper installation techniqueServe as the technical subject matter expert for product knowledge, building code and installation questions and inquiriesManage day-to-day issues and work with sales to ensure solutions are achievedAnalyze and provide feedback concerning product development and pricingResponsible for creating the strategies for providing product and installation support and training across North AmericaProvide feedback to Product Management, R&D, engineering and quality about product defects, design issues, potential product enhancements and new ideas that solve pain points during installationCollaborate with Customer Care as needed to support warranty claims and customer complaintsWork closely with marketing teams for preparation of displays for trade shows as neededUp to 60% travel required with 2-3 overnight stays per week.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSAdvanced knowledge of roofing installation processesKnowledge of standard building practicesSpecific knowledge of building and wind codes in assigned territoryWritten and oral communication and presentations skillsProven ability to interact and communicate with persons of various backgrounds and knowledge levels in order to promote products, and proper installation practicesSkilled mechanical abilitiesAbility to read, interpret and comprehend technical documents such as: installation instructions, architectural blueprints, construction plans, product specifications and building codesAbility to work independently with minimal supervision, yet have the ability to lead and work as part of a teamAbility to construct training decks as needed using common tools, building techniques, and materials6-8 years of experience with construction, building materials, building science or related fieldsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointPHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units and job sites which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
