We are seeking a Specialist, Software Engineer for the Innovation Nation line to support Smart Products. The ideal candidate will have:

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience working with Guidewire products, specifically Guidewire Policy Center Version 10+

  • Understanding of SQL databases, with the ability to write queries.

  • Knowledge in API integrations using Apigee and Event streaming using Kafka

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS

  • Proficiency in version control (Git)

  • Experience in monitoring and observability tools such as New Relic and Splunk

  • DevOps experience and DevOps tool is a plus (Kubernetes, Github actions, Harness or similar tools)

  • Experience in Java/Spring Boot/ Microservices is a plus

  • A solid understanding of web-based security (secure coding practices and coding standards)

  • Experience with unit testing, code coverage, and best practices

  • Understanding of Agile methodologies.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and learn new technologies

As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.

  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.

  • Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.

  • Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Experience: Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
