Job summary

Specialist Autism & SEMH School in South Birmingham is offering a full-time, long-term SEND teaching role. Applicants will deliver differentiated lessons, support pupils with autism and SEMH needs, and collaborate with therapists and teaching assistants to foster inclusive learning.

You will hold QTS, have experience with SEND, and be committed to safeguarding. A DBS on update service is preferred. The position provides ongoing training and career development within a supportive school community.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching pupils with SEND
  • Strong understanding of Autism (ASC) and SEMH
  • Experience implementing personalised learning strategies
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills
  • Enhanced DBS on update service or willingness to apply

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Support pupils with Autism, SEMH and associated behavioural and communication difficulties
  • Create a structured, supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Implement positive behaviour strategies and support emotional regulation
  • Monitor, assess and track individual pupil progress
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists and the wider team
  • Build positive relationships to support development
  • Help pupils develop confidence and essential life skills
