Job Description:

As an RF Circuit Design Engineer, you will be responsible for participating in the design, simulation, development, and testing of RF circuits, antenna systems or systems for use in Radar systems or other tactical military applications.

The Advanced Systems & Technologies (AS&T) division is a part of L3Harris’ Agile Development Group and specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS/UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience.

Essential Functions:

1. Take responsibility for electrical design tasks including requirements analysis, specification generation, interface definition, and board layout
2. Take technical responsibility for schedule, cost, at the board or subsystem level
3. Perform RF & Microwave (VHF through Ka) design synthesis at the board or subsystem level
4. Perform simulation, breadboarding, testing & troubleshooting of RF circuits, functions and subsystems
5. Develop test plans and procedures for RF subsystems
6. Participate in peer reviews, preliminary design reviews, critical design reviews and other required design reviews
7. Participate in interdisciplinary design teams and reviews
8. Learn and follow company processes for product development, configuration management, purchasing, etc.
9. Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearances as required
10. Physical Requirements: ability to lift up to 10 lbs
11. Up to 10% travel may be required
12. Other duties as required

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
2. Active security clearance required
3. 3+ years experience in RF Circuit Design
4. Experience with RF and 3D EM Simulation and Modeling, Schematic Capture, Board Layout CAD tools
5. Professional experience in practical RF system considerations such as path loss calculation, cascade noise figure, intercept point and power
6. Professional experience with basic RF test equipment including Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, and Signal Generators
7. 2+ years experience with RF/Microwave circuit layout techniques with board level design experience in the RF or Microwave bands

Preferred Additional Skills:

1. Proficiency in python scripting
2. Active RF component design
3. Radar Systems Design experience
4. Familiarity with other design and analysis software such as MatLab, AWR and CDS
5. Knowledge of practical RF system considerations such as path loss calculation, cascade noise figure and intercept point
6. Experience with basic Radar performance concepts
