Job summary

Blue Origin Space Coast, FL is seeking a Specialist - Quality III on 2nd shift to drive product conformance and process quality. You will verify reports, lead root-cause investigations, and support audits while aligning with cross‑functional teams in a high‑safety aerospace environment.

The role requires an engineering/technical degree with 3+ years of quality experience (or equivalent), and familiarity with AS9100/ISO9000 quality systems.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher with 3+ years quality experience, or Bachelor’s with 1+ year, or 5+ years directly relevant experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications.
• Experience with nonconformance documentation and corrective action processes.
• Familiarity with AS9100/ISO9000 QM systems and related programs.
• Excellent communication, organization, and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality inspections, tests, and evaluations on materials, components, and finished products.
• Author, review, and disposition nonconformance records; support MRB activity and track corrective actions.
• Lead or support root cause and corrective action investigations (5-Why, fishbone, 8D).
• Prepare and review First Article Inspection Reports per AS9102 or applicable standard.
• Document quality results and maintain records in QM systems.
• Assist with internal quality audits and preparation for external audits.
• Monitor and report quality metrics and KPIs; collaborate with production teams.
• Provide quality guidance and training to production on requirements and documentation practices.
• Review and approve manufacturing/assembly documentation and travel packs.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. In this role, you will apply standard techniques to evaluate product conformance through the execution, optimization, and validation of quality processes. This requires verifying product and process conformance, root cause and corrective action analysis, nonconformance disposition, hardware acceptance planning, and design verification. Establishes quality standards for products and processes and suggests modifications meant to prevent defects in components or final products. Works closely with cross-functional teams, including product design, product management, and production, to identify and mitigate quality risks. Audits production processes, raw materials, or suppliers/vendors to ensure that established quality standards are met. Conducts root cause analysis for defects, non-conformities, or other quality failures. In addition, you will perform reviews and approve manufacturing and integration build documents including work orders and nonconformance records. You will perform periodic audits of the application of our quality system in accordance with AS9100, recommend initiatives and/or changes that will improve product and system quality, and provide quality assurance subject matter expertise to inspection, fabrication, and test. Periodically, you will interface with internal and external customers on quality related concerns and develop training materials to build quality awareness. In this role you will report directly to the Quality Engineering Manager. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of developing, testing, and launching Space systems to support Blue Origin’s Vision. Special Mentions: Relocation provided. Shifts available: Monday-Thursday 4:00PM-2:30AM. This position will require shift flexibility to align with changes in business need. Interviews will include a technical assessment.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support root cause and corrective action investigations using structured methods (5-Why, fishbone, 8D, fault tree)
• Prepare and review First Article Inspection Reports [per AS9102 or applicable standard]
• Document quality results and maintain accurate records in quality management systems
• Assist with internal quality audits and preparation for external audits
• Monitor and report on quality metrics and key performance indicators
• Collaborate with production teams to address and resolve quality issues
• Provide quality guidance and training to production teams on requirements, workmanship standards, and documentation practices
• Review and buy off manufacturing/assembly documentation, travelers, and as-built records for completeness and traceability
• Collaborate with internal and external customers on quality related concerns; develop and present training materials to build quality awareness

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in engineering/technical field and 3+ years of quality experience, OR Bachelor's degree and 1+ years, OR 5+ years of directly relevant experience
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications
• Experience with nonconformance documentation and corrective action processes
• Hands‑on experience with dimensional inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gages, bore gages)
• Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 QM System and/or related quality systems and programs
• Excellent communication skills, organized, attention to detail, and self‑starter
• Ability to support integration schedules and overtime on as needed basis
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
• Desired: American Society of Quality, Certified Quality Engineer certification
• Experience in aerospace, space launch, military/commercial aviation highly preferred
• Experience with IPC J-STD-001 (Space Addendum)
• Experience with IPC 620 standard (IPC-WHMA-A-620)
• Experience with quality tools such as lean principles, root cause analysis, and corrective action
• Experience with advanced product quality planning (APQP), process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), control plans, and various problem solving approaches
• Quality Management System audit experience
• Quality performance measurement analysis capabilities
• Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification
