Job Description:

The Specialist, Project Engineer is an intermediate professional with practical knowledge of job area. Works under moderate supervision to set objectives for own job area. Communicates with contacts inside and outside own team to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures. Identifies and addresses changes within own job area. Works to achieve operational targets with some impact on departmental results. Work consists of making basic adjustments to systems and processes to solve problems. Identifies, defines, and addresses general problems that are typically within the immediate job area. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experiences or standard procedures and basic analysis.

Essential Functions:

  • Key interface between the Engineering team and Program Management departments.
  • Prior design engineer experience.
  • Previous DoD Developmental Experience.
  • Interfacing with the other engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical, etc.) to insure proper execution of the project.
  • Understanding importance of technical performance, cost and schedule goals on the program are met.
  • Acting as an advisor to senior management and customers on advanced technical studies and/or applications.
  • Identifying and managing program technical risks.
  • Establishing schedule, resource, budget, and tool requirements for tasks.
  • Ensuring engineering processes are followed on projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • 2+ years of direct Engineering experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Direct experience working on defense contracts including earned value management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, drive, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with DOORS requirements management software.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $110,000 - $152,000. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $100,000 - $132,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
