Job summary

RBC Capital Markets, LLC is seeking an Operations Specialist 1 for the Retirement Plan Operations team in Minneapolis. You will own critical oversight activities ensuring systems run smoothly, provide analysis, processing, and customer service support for complex and specialized operations.

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree or equivalent; 3 years related experience with HS diploma.
  • 2+ years securities, banking and/or job-specific related experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem identification and resolution skills for escalation and oversight.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to handle multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily department oversight activities to validate system processes are executing as designed; run and analyze reports to resolve exceptions.
  • Assist in department oversight to ensure adherence to procedures, mitigate risks, and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Support escalated, time-sensitive, complex, exception-based processes.
  • Liaise with Operations, RBC Business Units, external customers to research or secure information; escalate to Manager as needed.
  • Provide backup for high-volume phone or Salesforce cases; support absences of other specialists.
  • Participate in projects; assist testing and implementation of new systems and processes.
  • Ensure manuals are updated as policies change.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Join our Retirement Plan Operations team as an Operations Specialist 1 and take ownership of critical oversight activities that ensure our systems and processes run smoothly. Provide analysis, processing, and customer service support for manual, exception-based, complex and/or highly specialized Operations processes. This individual will review, verify, and record data into technology systems supporting department processes while ensuring adherence to all regulatory and firm policy requirements. In addition, this individual will research, resolve, or secure requested information for other Operations areas, RBC Business Units, external customers or industry participants.

What will you do?
  • Execute daily department oversight activities to validate system processes are executing as designed. Run and analyze reports as required to resolve exceptions ensuring adherence to all regulatory and firm policy requirements. Provide detailed daily oversight and act as a backup for controls/WSP's.
  • Assist in department oversight to ensure adherence to department procedures, risks are mitigated, and regulatory requirements are met
  • Support escalated issues, time sensitive, complex, exception-based and/or highly specialized processes
  • Liaise and provide customer service support for individuals requiring research, problem resolution, or securing information from other Operations departments, RBC Business Units, external customers or industry participants. Address escalated questions independently, seeking assistance from Manager as appropriate following established department procedures
  • Provide backup when support is needed for high volumes for phone or salesforce cases as well as during absences for other specialists or associates
  • Be a resource for projects, participate in testing and implementation of new systems and processes impacting Retirement Plan Operations
  • Ensure manuals are accurate and updated as policies and procedures change
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university (or equivalent) OR High School diploma (or equivalent) AND 3 years for job-related experience
  • 2+ years prior securities, banking and/or job specific related experience
  • Demonstrated problem identification, analytical and resolution skills required to support escalated issue resolution and/or oversight requirements associated with exception based complex processes
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced and deadline driven environment with high attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality. Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management
  • Proficient computer skills in Windows-based software products including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Nice-to-have
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in business, finance, or related field
  • 3+ years business, finance, customer service and/or accounting/bookkeeping experience
  • Previous experience in the securities or banking industry preferred

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $50,000 - $80,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
