Job summary

Dick's Sporting Goods is seeking a Specialist – Off Field Operations in Chesterfield, MO to ensure the store is athlete-ready by driving inventory accuracy and operational execution. You will engage athletes, learn their needs, and guide them with product recommendations while adhering to store standards.

You will also train teammates, uphold merchandising guidelines, and promote loyalty and warranty programs, all while maintaining a welcoming, safe store environment.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in retail or customer-facing roles.
• Previous retail or customer-facing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage athletes to understand shopping needs and drive sales with product knowledge.
• Onboard and train new and existing team members as subject-matter experts in store operations.
• Maintain athlete-first mindset and ensure products are ready for purchase and athletes are engaged as they want.
• Uphold merchandising and presentation standards including floor plans, signage, pricing, and replenishment.
• Promote customer participation in loyalty programs, warranty sales, and private-label credit-card enrollment.
• Create an inclusive store environment and adhere to safety, loss prevention, and SOPs.

Overview

Specialist – Off Field Operations supports critical processes and ensures the store is consistently athlete‑ready by driving inventory accuracy, fulfillment, and operational execution.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Delivers an outstanding athlete experience by proactively engaging athletes to understand their shopping needs and creating a world‑class athlete experience; provides clear, accurate, and knowledgeable information about products and assortment. Anticipates athlete needs and actively drives sales through product and services recommendations and a deep understanding of athlete needs.
• Assists with onboarding and training of new and existing team members as a subject‑matter expert in their area of the store, focusing on best practices, expectational selling skills, and key operational processes. Serves as a go‑to expert in designated process categories, ensuring smooth execution and high productivity.
• Demonstrates efficiency and effectiveness in process execution while maintaining an athlete‑first mindset; ensures products are ready for athletes to purchase and athletes are engaged when, where, and how they want.
• Upholds company merchandising and presentation standards by following established floor set plans, signage requirements, price changes, inventory presentation, replenishment standards, etc.
• Promotes and drives customer participation in company programs such as customer loyalty program participation, warranty sales, and private‑label credit‑card enrollment.
• Creates a store environment where everyone, both teammates and athletes, is always welcome and treated with respect. Adheres to established policies and procedures related to safety, loss prevention, standard operating procedures, and laws/guidelines of external governing entities.

Compensation & Benefits

Targeted Pay Range: $18.00 – $26.00. Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, experience and position offered.
