Job summary

Goodwill San Antonio is seeking a Grounds Equipment Technician to maintain all grounds maintenance equipment and vehicles used on our contracts. You will troubleshoot engines, perform repairs, and oversee field service tasks to keep tools and machines in reliable condition.

Responsibilities include in-field repairs, maintaining records, stocking parts, and training grounds staff on proper equipment use, while adhering to safety standards and providing excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Formal training/education in mechanical repairs.
• 2+ years related job experience.
• 3+ years of maintenance/repair of grounds equipment.
• Basic welding and light fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all grounds maintenance equipment and vehicles for Grounds contracts.
• Repair engines and hydraulic systems; troubleshoot problems and diagnose defects.
• Overhaul engines and perform in-field repairs.
• Maintain records of maintenance and repairs; requisition parts.
• Communicate with Project Manager and administration about repairs and results.
• Provide training to grounds personnel on proper equipment use.
• Keep a clean, organized shop and mobile shop.
• Follow safety program requirements and deliver good customer service.

Perform repairs and maintenance of small engines to complex hydraulic systems and ensure equipment is in working order. Support the organization in its mission to help change lives through the power of work.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerform repairs on fractional-horsepower diesel/gasoline engines used to power lawnmowers, tractors, weed-eaters, and other hand and pneumatic tools.Trouble-shoot equipment problems, dismantles engines, and examine parts for defects and diagnosis to repair or replace. Overhaul engines and rebuilds as necessary. Perform minor welding as required.Perform “in field” repairs of mowing and small equipment.Test equipment following repair and prior to issuing to grounds crews.Maintain records related to equipment maintenance and repair activities.Requisition parts and supplies and maintain sufficient parts inventory.Communicate daily with equipment users, Project Manager, and administration, to discuss repairs, problems, and results.Provide training to grounds personnel to ensure proper use of equipment.Maintain an organized mechanic’s shop and mobile truck.Adhere to all occupational safety program requirements.Provide excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and responding to questions and/or concerns in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.REQUIREMENTSMust be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a security clearance.High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).Formal training/education in mechanical repairs.2+ years of related job experience.3+ years of experience in maintenance/repair of grounds equipment.
